We all know we can’t rely on the weather but it wouldn’t be a British summer without at least one day at the seaside, rain or shine!

This year we made it as far as the east coast, a new one for us. Already staying with friends near Peterborough we packed up for the day with a picnic, lots of tea and took off to Hunstanton, a good old Victorian seaside resort.

Stop off if you are ever nearby, it’s well worth a visit. It’s like stepping back in time with lots of traditional fun. Beach is great, sea was freezing, there’s a pitch and putt, penny arcade and a cracking funfair where you get loads more than the usual 2 minutes per ride.

The town boasts to have the biggest joke shop in the country, the boys were in there so long we went in to search for them and let’s just say we found them in a bit we would not call appropriate for kids!

At the end of the day, a must for all seaside trips, fish and chips. And to top it off, Hunstanton is one of the few places on the east coast where you can see the sun set over the sea.
